Meeting a Legend?the Robot Lords and Clutch finally cross paths!
September 30, 2009
No other way to put it, I met one of my heroes last week, and I?m still goofy-ass grinnin? about it. See, I?ve had the good fortune of getting to know a very cool guy by the name of Will D., who in addition to a variety of unique and varied endeavors, also did the live video production on Clutch?s recent live DVD, Full Fathom Five.
Turns out Will is a Robot Lords fan, and with the Clutch in town at the Newport last Thursday, an incredible opportunity presented itself. In addition to witnessing another typically shit-hot rib-cracking performance by Neil and the boys, I was able to hang backstage and meet JP Gaster. JP is without a doubt on my personal drumming influences Mount Rushmore (along with Bonham, Paice and V. Appice). Needless to say, he was cool as hell, kind enough to ask about the Robot Lords, and I even got to hand deliver him a copy of ?Whiskey, Blood & Napalm?. If that?s not cool enough, I was also told that Neil has some Robot Lords on his iPod! Just friggin? crazy.
I also met the guys in the opening band, Lionize, who play a very cool hybrid of jazzy-stoner rock and reggae. They?re good dudes so check ?em out if that sounds at all interesting to you.
So just call me one ecstatic fanboy. Thanks Will!
New Megadeth?s out, kicking my ass, go buy it.
This day we fight,
RR/RLoT
